THE LATE MR COLIN COOK.

The respect and esteem in which the late Mr Colin Cook was held was evidenced by the very large attendance at tho funeral which took place at Lyttelton on Saturday afternoon. The weather was very wintry, and bitterly cold, but tho public attended •in large numbers. Tho Mayor-elect (Mr J. R. Webb), the retiring Mayor (Mr M. J. Miller) and the members of the Lyttelton Borough Council, past and present, together with the Town Clerk (Mr L. A. Stringer), and -the members of the Council's staff, representatives of the Lyttelton Harbour Board and employees, North Canterbury Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, and other public bodies, wero also present, and there was a large gathering of members of Lodge Unanimity (of which the late «fL v Wa? ? past mast <*), and of other Masonic Lodges. A short service wns conducted at Holy Trinity Church % * h f «cv. Canon who also officiated at tho graveside, and who read the Masonic funeral service. Wreaths were received from tho Mayor and Councillors of Lvttelton, members of the Lytteiton Harbour Board, members of tho Worth Canterbury Hospital and OharitaWo Aia Board, Lyttelton Borough Council staff and employees, Harbour Board shore staff, officers and staff of dredge Canterbury, dredge Tβ VVhaka, tug Lyttelton, Harbour Board workshop, Reclamation Works employees, Lodge Unanimity, Licensed Victuallers' Association, Lyttelton Regatta Club, Master Butchers' Association, Lyttelton Gymnasium Swimming Olub, Lyttelton Ladies' Swimming Club, Canterbury lacht and Motor Club, committee and members Christchurch Bowling Club, Captain and Mrs Hutchinson, Captain and Mrs Scott, Mr and Mrs Vaughan, tho Mansfield family, Mr and Mrs Arthur Morton, -Mrs Uallavin and family, Mrs Campbell Brown and family, Mrs H. Cook, miss L. 'Brown.

Telegrams and letters of condolence were received from Mr H. Holland (Mayor of Christchurch), Mr J. L. Luke (Mayor of Wellington), Mr H. Davis (Mayor of Ashburton), Mr Hugo Friedlander (Chairman Lyttolton Harbour Board), Mr G. Witty, M.P., Mr G. A. Lewin (Town Clerk of Dunedin), Lyttelton Marine Band, and Canterbury Saleyards Company.
