BOROUGH COUNCILS.
AKAEOA. Tho ordinary meeting of the Akaroa Borough Council was held oi.' Wednesday. Present:—Tho Mayor (Mr G. Armstrong), Os. Newton, Lcwitt, Walker, Munro, Narbey, Fyfe, Vangioni, and Williams. Correspondence was read from Messrs W. D. Wilkins and Sons, asking, the Council to assess the price of water used foi seed-cleaning machines. It was .revived that £3 per annum ho charged. The- samo sura was also fixed foi Messrs T. JE. Taylor's pelton wheel The- Finance Committee- reported that they had gone into tfc=- 'matter of Messrs Beswick and Harris's account for compiling the. by-laws, and recommended that tho account bo paid T!io Electric Lighting Committee 'reported that the revenue for the pas. mx months was £272, and that th< scheme was now paying its way Tenders for tho supply of sand am shingle were acoc-pfcd from B. W Hennmg, and for carting from T Lawrence. An application for e.lectrir light, etc., outside tho borough, wa; referred to tho Lighting Committee. LYTTELTON. The final meeting of tho present members of the Lyttoltou Borougi. Council was held last night, when thenwere present: —Tho Mayor (Mr M. J Miller). Crs. S. R. Webb, J. 11. Webb J H. Collins, F. J. Page, \Y. Luke, A\ Iladeliffc, and Dr. J. Guthrie. Th. Works Committee recommended tin Council to support the proposal of tlu Public Works Department to stock Australian hardwood for the purpose of supplying the requirements of local governing bodies, and that a schedule of the sizes and approximate quantities likely to be required by the Council for the next twelve months bo sent to tho Department. The recommendations were adopted. The financial statement showed the district fund account in debit £5588 15s lOd, including temporary loans £4593 9s: drainage loan account, credit £63 3s 3d; and waterworks loan account, credit £395 3s Gd. Tho names of Crs. Atkinson and Hancock were omitted from the list of those present at tho last meeting of the Spreydon Borough Council.
