THE WELLINGTON CARNIVAL.
ARRANGEMENTS FOR EASTEII. (SI'ECIAL TO '-TH.. I'KKSS.") WELLINGTON, February 25. Following im the matter of making adequate provision for the recention of visitors to Wellington at Easter time, the Mayor (Mr D. There is a .trong indication, however that many peoplo will visit Wellington. In his etter the Mayor has heartily invited Uie .Mayor, councillors, and citizens of - the other communities to visit Wellington and witness tho carnival proceedings. The replies received through the town clerks of Invercargill, Christenureh. Napier, and other boroughs, are raosc hearty, and in a number of instances show that the Wellington carnival will be a point of attraction for people trorn all parts of the Bominion during the Easter holidays. The Mayor thinks that this spirit of good-fellow- _ ship being manifested between the several cities and boroughs of the Dominion is '-an excellent sign of proCress in the development of a wise civic •pint, which is in every way desirable."
