A DENTAL WARD.
'ESTABLISHMENT AT THE
HOSPITAL,
Mr F. Horrell, chairman of tho North Canterbury Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, made an interesting statement to a representative of "The Press" yesterday relative to the establishment of a dental ward at tho Christchurch Hospital.
Mr Horrell remarked that the establishment of a dental ward was an extension of the functions of the Hospital, in which large numbers wore keenly interested, and they would, therefore, be gratified to learn that tho Board had decided to establish, such a ward.
Th© old Board room is to be fitted up for the purpose, and the room which was previously used as the office of the secretary of the Board will be made into a waiting-room. Arrangements have been made to obtain th© nece>sary apparatus end appliances, and tho services of a dentist, who will be one of the hospital staff, are to be advertised for immediately. Assuming that tho local Dontal Association carry out the proposals submitted by it to the Board, there will be several dentists on the honorary staff of the hospital, and it is hoped that this will permit of arrangements being made for a dentist to be in attendance at the dental ward for two hours daily. Mr Horrell added that he hoped to have the dental ward in full swing within a month.
