CORRESPONDENCE.
THE SUMMIT ROAD.
to the editor of "the tress."
Sir,—l have been told that there are rranv ladies and gentlemen who find pleasure in a walk on tho Summit road, who would gladly contribute to the funds of tho Association if they knew whero they could leavo a contribution. The work of the Association :s not yet ended by any means; there aro the springs of water to care for and protect from pollution by animals—a very necessary work; the planting of reserves to provido shelter from the heat while the traveller is resting by the way, and I have listened to complaints about tho need for finger posts; money is urgently needed for all these works. A goodly 'number of people take pleasure in a walk along the Summit road, and they are much indebted to the members of the Association, who, by their contributions have aided the work cf forming the track which is now a source of pleasure to hundreds of people who delight in a walk along the hilltops, or on one or other of the reserves wii-'ch border it at intervals. Contributions may bo paid to Mr E. J. R'ghton. Canterbury Hall; Mr H. Fisher, High street; the Bank of New Zealand; or to the undersi'zned. H, G. ELL. 28 Jerrold street, Spreydon.
