HAWARDEN A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.

A general meeting of the Hawarelen Agricultural and Pastoral Association was held at Hawarden recently to discuss the advisability of procuring suitable grounds for.-the society. Tho president, Mr John' Allan, presided 6vor a small attendance. ' After considerable discussion, a canvass of the members present resulted in just over £100 being promised towards the proposed purchase. The opinion was expressed that the society would be well served for somo years to come with the present accommodation, as afforded by tho Hawarden Saleyards. An idea" that a combineel show and sports ground would be more appreciated in a country district also was supported, anel it was finally resolved that, in view of tho small amount of enthusiasm evinced, tho matter of procuring private grounds diould be indefinitely postponed.

The Executive Committee on the same day revised t tlie annual show schedule, the main additions being a section for poultry, and classes for a five-horse team —lorry or waggon—and for the best shepherd's turn-out—horse a_d team of three dogs, in the sheep classes where five animals were re-qrrire-d, the number was reduced to iiirco. It was decided to allow harness horses to compete in hack classes also. A,special sub-committee on Friday last allotted a very generous list of specials, including practically all of last year's, and adding a first of two guineas an 3 a second of one guinea for the most points scored in cookery classes by a non-previcus first prize-taker.
