Mrs M. Tosswill, who nas been in cliargo of tho school at Duv-auchelle for the last four years, was on. Thursday evening entertained at a 'farewell social prior to her leaving on an extended trip to tho Old Country. Jlr T. \V. Wilkins, on behiilf of the residents, presented Mrs Tosswilt with v handsemo silver-mounted dressing case. Tho recipient suitably responded, and thanked all present tor their good wishes.

The npnthly meeting of tho Akaroa and Wainui Koad Board was held at Duvauchjllo on Saturday. Present —• Messrs G. Armstrong (chairman), H. T. Chapmaii. and R. A. Pettigrew. A request frj>m Mrs Vanstono. Puaha, to havo grass cut on her road, was left to "Mr Chapman to attend to. A request for a grant towards the Peninsula Technical School was considered, and the sumlof £10 voted. The tender of Mr W. Cossar, for the purchase of tho Council's Puaha reserve at £30 per aero was accented. A complaint -was received that a pig trough on the Puaha road was dangerous to traffic. It was resolved that Mrs Drown bo notified that tho trough must bo removed from tho public rood. Mr Pettigrew was authorised to have a culvert put in and other repairs done- to Piper's Valley road, and also to attend to the disposal of grass seed on tho Little Akaloa track.
