North Island 42d. Lamb —The market is firm. A few of this season's North Island which have arrived realising o|d; last season's Canterbury 5Jd. lieof—The market is quiet. New Zealand hinds 3Jd, fores 3id. Butter-—The market is quiet, and prices are slightly weaker. December imports ■were 26,923cwt more than for the same month last year. The season continue." unfavourable for sales on account of fine weather. The Irish, English, and Continental production is still considerable. Average price for tho week for choicest New Zealand butter 117s. Australian Ills, Argentine 110s, Danish 128s. Siberian llOe. Cheeso—Tho market is dull, with less demand. Some holders are forcing sales. English cheese is plentiful. New Zealand 60s 6d, Canadian 625, English cheddar 70s. Hemp—The market is quiet, but firm. On spot, Now Zealand good to fair grade £33, Cair grade £31 10s, forward shipment about the same price; fair current Manila £34, forward shipment 3T35. The output from Manila for the week was 22,000 bales. River Plato shipments of meat received during the month of l>ecember, 1912. were as follow: —London, mutton, 64.310, lamb, 50,560; Liverpool, 113.688. 37.633; Cardiff, 6345; Hull, 7339, nil; Southampton, 45,602, 9728; Plymouth, 702. 150; Newcastle, 8384. nil; totals, 240,031, 98.416. The totals for December, 1911, were 284,881 and 128,465.
