They also murdered twelve hundred people at Seres, and tho people of Nanthie, who took refuge in the mosques, were hacked to pieces. When all the Turks had been killed they attacked the Jews, and tho wealthiest were carried off and tortured until they paid ransoms of £11,000 each.
