AKAROA
At a meeting of tho vestry of St. Peter's Anglican Church, Akaroa, a letter was received from Misses M. and E. Wostonra. on behalf of tho donors, asking tho vestry to accept an oagle leotern m oak (for which they.hau collected subscriptions) as a Christmas gift, and expressing a wish that the lectern be placed in St. Peter's Church on Christmas Day. A resolution was passed by tho vestry accepting the lectern, and warmly thanking tho donors for their gift." The lectern is a vory handsome one, representing the symboliq eaglo, with outstretched wings standing on a globe, and supported by a column, beautifully carved.
