A meeting of tao Canterbury Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association was held lost night, Mr F. D. Against the £75 paid to the Olympio Council can bo charged Mr Homeman'e account of £50, £15.advanced'to Champion by the Olympic Council, and £10 managerial expenses, co that up to tho present the payments by the W.Z.A.S.A. practically equal tho actual expenditure of the trip." ' > Mr Walter Johnson wrote tendering his lesignation as the Centre's delegate to tho N.Z.A.S.A., ac he found the. work in connection with tho Canterbury Head Centre of the R.L.S.S., together with the successful -working of tho Dominion Executive of the R.L.S.S., made too great a demand on hie time. The commit?*© of the Lyttelton Regatta had. aubscribed £5 to the fund, and the visitors would give ft demonstration at Lyttelton on New Year's Day. , • The actions of the executive were approved, end tie programmes and tho officials for the carnivals were passed. .... Mr J. R. Buchanan wroto resigning hia seat on the Centre, having accepted a eeat on tho New Zoa'and Swimming Association te representative of the Wellington Centre. Tho resignation was accep-Usd with regret, and it was decided to placo on record the Centre's appreciation, of Mr Buchanans services to the spo:t during hie long term as a member of tho Centre. On behalf of the Centre the chairman presented Mr Buchanan with the local cfucere I badge, which boro a suitable inscriptioil. I Mr Buchanan returned thanks, and eaia he I hoped to do a little more for swimming on the Council of the Association. On behalf of the Centre Mr Eldndge presented the secretary, Mr G. Rich, with ft handsome roll-top desk in recognition of the j üble manner in which Mr Rich had carried 1 out the arrangements in connection with the I New Zealand Championship Meeting. He eaid that Mr Rich had declined the honorarium voted him, and the executive had fe't it their duty to giye him something that would mark their appreciation of his BcrvicPS. (Applause). Mr Rich acknowledge the gift, end thanked tho delegates and swimmers generally for the assistance they had afforded him.

EOTAL LIFE-SATING SOCIETY.

Clasees cxc now formed under the auspices of the Royal Life-saving Society for the ins'Sruction of males wad females in method* of liie-saving, as taught by the Society. Considerable interest is being exhibited by swimmers in the work of the Society, and the eeason promiees to be a Xeeord one. A class tor.males will be held on Thursdays nt the Tepid Baths, commencing on Thursday next, at 7.15 p.m. The instructors are Messrs F. T. Ager and F. l<. Anderson. All icatrncticji is given free, oad the classes axe open to everyone, whether members of the 8.L..5. Society or not. There are still a few vacancies in this class, full particulars of which can bo obtained at the Tepid Baths, from Mr G: E. Billeoh.
