THE OIL INDUSTRY.
BORING STARTED AT MANGAONE,
(PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) EKETAEUNA, November 38. A start was made with boring by tho Mangaono Oilfields, Ltd., at Tane to-day. A large crowd of people were present, including visitors from the Wairarapa and Hawke's Bay. In the coui-so of tjie speeches at tho official ceremony, it was explained that tho Company had got the best style of drill in the world, and highly qualified experts were in charge. It is expected to bore 2000 feet in two months. ' The venture is a co-operative one, as practically all the option givers ar© shareholders. Experts have agreed that the locality is a moet favourable one, and it is hoped inside of three months to see oil flowing, and it is expected that tho methods adopted will play an important part in the fatnre of the industry in New Zealand. I> n !{} n £ commenced at 1 D.m., and the drill was down 40 feet b'v 3 p.m. Heavy timber retarded the boring. The work will be carried on night and day.
