MR SAMUEL'S CASE.
A HtIVATE PROSECUTION.
United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, November 26. On the 11th inst, in the House - of Commons, the Premier referred to a Solecfc Committee tho question of Mr Stuart Samuel's eligibility to retain his seat as member for Whitechapel, owing to tho Indian Government having purchased large quantities of silver through the firm in which Mr Samuel is a partner. A private individual, as a. common informer, has commenced an action against Mr Stuart Samuel, claiming £46,500, being £500 for each vote he has given in the Houso since tho contract.
Mr Harold T. Baker, acting-Secre-tary for India, replying to a question in tho Houso of Commons, said that the Government was satisfied that the Montagu Company had acted as brokers, and not as dealers, in the purchase of silver for the Indian Government.
