MOTHERS' UNION.

ANNUAL MEETING. The eleventh annual meeting of tho Canterbury Branch of the Mothers' Union was held yesterday afternoon, the Yen. Archdeacon Gosset presiding over a large attendance of ladies. Tho annual report and balance-sheet were read and adopted. The report stated that the present year had shown a large increase in membership, there being now 17C0 working and 14 honorary members, and in addition £0 associates. The annual Festival had been, held on February 15th, when the Bishop delivered an address on "Family Life,'* and a garden party had been held at Bishops Court. Tho society had suffered a great loss in Mrs Corfe, who had left New Zealand for South Africa and England, her vacancy having been taken by Mrs A. Merton. The balance-sheet showed the finances of the Union to be in a satisfactory state, thero being a credit balance of £11 16s Bd.

The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows:—Vicepresident, Mrs Gosset; hon. treasnrer and secretary, Mrs Kirkpatnck; literature associate, Mrs L. Knight. Addresses wero given by tho Vcn. Archdeacon Gosset. the Rev, Herbert Yorke, and the Rev. H. Williams, dealing with the work and aims of the Union, and the need for establishing ideals of purity and holiness in family life. In conclusion a hearty vote of thanks was accorded' tho speakers.
