SUMMARY AND FORECAST.

Mr D. C. Bates, Government Meteorologist, supplied the following weather summary and forecast at 5 p.m. yesterday: — Tho barometer has risen in the South and fallen slightly in the North. Considerable rain has fallen, and cloudy nnd unsettled weather has been experienced generally. Strong northerly winds have predominated in the .North Island, hut variable winds in the South.

Present indications are for cloudy and unsettled weather, with Tain in many parts of the country, especially about Cook Strait, strong northerly winds veering by west to southerly northward of New Plymouth and Napier, and variable winds with floulherlies predominating eltcwhere. The barometer will probably fall slightly in the _<orth, but is due to rise everywhere soon.
