MINING.
r THE TALISMAN MINE. (special to "tiie pbbss.") KARANGAKAKE. November 7. During the broken period of October, which represented only twelve days' crushing, 1870 tons wore crushed ond treated for a yield of'bullion valued at £18,668 4s 6d. This high return is attributable to making a very ok«c clean up of all bullion sources. On account of the mill being closed down at tho time of the Huntly trouble, the costs . for the period are naturally higher, owing* ! to the small tonnage, and, in addition, advantage was taken to execute repairs in the mine and battery. Tho costs total 675, being made up as follows: —Mine development, 21s Gd; mining, 18s 7d; milling, 23s 8d; general expenses. Is 3d. ' The following cable message has been received from London:—"Board declared quarterly dividend of Is 6d, poyable December 4th. Transfer books close November 16th. Owing to the recent stoppage of operations at the mine, due to tho lack of fuel supplies, caused through labour troubles in the Dominion, the board of directors decided to tern- j porarily reduce dividends, but hope to revurt to Is 9d next quarter.'' ]
