ENGAGEMENTS FOR TO-MORROW.

Owing to tho fact that Parliament did not riso yesterday, and that ho is suffering "from a chill, his Excellency Lord Islington will not reach Christchurch till to-morrow. In company with Lady Islington his Excellency wilt visit tho Canterbury Jockey Club's races, and in the evening will bo entertained by tho municipal authorities in tho City Council Chambers. Th© Mayor, Mr H. Holland, will present his Excellency with a fnrowell address. The function will take placo at 8 o'clock, but owing to tho restricted limits of tho hall, tho gathering will bo confined to councillors, consuls, chairmen of local bodies, and representatives of tho clergy. Yesterday afternoon Lady Islington visitod Mount Majjdala aud Nazareth Houso. Last evening her Excellency Lady Islington visited tho Young Women's Cliristin: to bid farowoll to her friends there. S>ho was welcomed by tho members of the Board, and Mrs Kaye, on their behalf, expressed tho appreciation felt for her Excellency's interest in tho Asrociation, and icdood in all that appertained to tho welfaro of women. Tho girls sang; her a cong of farowoll, composed by ono of their nun her. In a pleasing speech of reply Lady Islington said that on-3 of her chief objects in coming to Christchurch had been to say goodbvo to her friends of tho Association. Sho urged that they should adopt high ideals of womanhood aud follow them faithfully. To them all sho wished the greatest* success.

AUCKLAND, November i. Extensive preparations aro bcin? mado to farewell tho Governor from Auckland. Tho proceedings include a procession of yachts nnd power boats on the harbour, in which their Excellencies will tahe part. Tho Mayor received tho following telegram from the Governor's private secretnr. to-day:— "1 am directed by tbeir Excellencies to say that Friday evening, November 2fth, will bo set apart at your request for tho citizens' farewell, hi tho Town Hall."
