DRUNKENNESS,
Four first offenders for drunkonness wero each fined os, in default twentvfour hours' imprisonment. Henry Niven, alias James Neilson, and Frank Arnold, alias Wilson, wero each fined 10s. in default forty-eight hours' imprisonment.
A SAMOAN ON A HOLIDAY. _ A Sainoan, named Daniel, was fined os. in default twenty-four hours' imprisonment, for drunkenness. Ho was further convicted of having broken a cab window, valued at 7g Cd, tho property of J. Devonport. Ho said ho lived in Auckland, and had como down hero for Race Week. The Magistrate advised him to return to Auckland, where people .veie probably accustomed to his ways. He would 'have to poy for tho damage he had done. (Before Messrs J. H. Stager and S. ALLEGED INDECENT ASSAULT. Thomas Francis Hickoy and Ernest Henry Righton (Mr Donnelly) -Here charged with indecently assaulting a girl under the age of sixteen. The accused, who pleaded not guilty, were committed for trial to tho Supreme Court.

ABSENT WITHOUT LEAVE.
Ernest Frost and William Smith, able seamen, lawfully engaged on board tho steamship Devon, were charged with being absent without leavo from tho vessel this morning. They were convicted and fined two days' pay each, and ordered to pay costs. Evidence went to show that tho Devon, being under charter to the Union Steam Ship Company, tho crew were being paid the New Zealand rates of pay. Tho men wero given the extra pay, and Frost got drunk on his money. He tvas found drunk on deck at midnight by the chief officer, and was ordered below, a substitute being put on to do hia work. He was ordered to turn to at 7 a.m.. but said he. was going to tak& a day off. Smith was also taking a day off.
