A SUCCESSFUL STATIONMASTER.

RETIREMENT OF MR W. HANNAY.

PRESENTATION AT LYTTELTON

After a long and successful period of service in tho Rnilwuy Department, extending over thirty-fivo years, fifteen of which havo been spent as stationmaster at ' Lyttelton, Mr W. Hannay has retired on superannuation. "-The capable and conscientious manner in which ho has discharged his onerous duties have earned for him the esteem and respect of tho townspeople and business men, and^tlie appreciation of the various shipping companies. Mr Honnay has been the recipient of several.presentations from the railway staff, and on Friday, at sentntivo gathering in tho Lyttejton Borough Council Chambers, presided over by tho Mayor (Mr M. J. Miller), ho was presonted wjth a valuable and substantial token of the appreciation of his work by the shipping and other btisi.ness firms. Tho Mayor, after referring in eulogistic terms to the many good qualities of Mr. Hannay, both as a .citizen aaid as the- chief executive officer at Lyttelton for tho Railway Department, on behalf of those present, an-i all other subscriber!:, wished Mr Han nay many years of health and happiness in his retirement, and handed him a valuable gold pendant in the form of a model "L" railway waggon complete in every, dotail, and a well-filM bntf'of sovoreigus. ~.-■' - :Mr Jv'-Garrard,' Lyttelton manager for Messrs Kinsey and Co., and $!<• W.
