Owing to tho attach on tho Tilbury railway, troops are guarding the line. •'Captain" Tupper, of the Sailors' and Firemen's Union, asserts that tho transport workers are incensed at nonunionists carrying firearms, and aro now selling tho remnants of their furniture to purchase weapons. LIVERPOOL DOCKERS OUT. Twelve thousand Liverpool dockers have struck as a protest against tho inauguration of the Clearing House scheme to facilitate tho collection of insurance contributions. THE HYDE~PARK RIOT. Many women and children were trampled on in Hyde Park during the stampede following the baton cl.arges, and were treated in hastily improvised hospitaJ camps. Mr Georgo Lansbury, M.P., was roughly handled. Several rioters havo been sentenced to terms of imprisonment varying up to two months. HOPES OF SETTLEMENT RAISED. Messrs Gosling and Orbell, representing the strikers, had an interview today with Lord Dcvonport, Chairman of the Port of London Authority. This has raised tho hopes of a settlement, and consequently tho Premier has postponed his promised statement. NEGOTIATIONS WITH LORD DEVONPORT. (Received July 16th, 10.55 p.m.) LONDON, July 16. The Strike Committee are waiving tho reinstatement of those whose places have been filled. They havo given Mr Gosling and Mr Orbell a to proceed with tho negotiations with Lord Devonport. The negotiations will be resumed to-day.
