THE MARATHON RACE.
K. McArthur (-South Africa) won tho Marathon raco, in 2hr 36iuin 54 sec. Gitsham (South Africa) was second in 2hr 37min 52scc, and St. Robino (United States) third in 2hr 38min 42 2-oth sec. The raco was run in sweltering heat. Tho courso was very rough, and led over several abrupt hillocks. Sixty-nine started, including Lord, ot Britain, and Kol'hmainen. Tho winner reached the tapo in a dazed and staggering condition.
