For moro than a year the Denartnient- ot Agriculture has bean engaged in experiments to discover the cause of bush sickness., a disease affecting cattle in certain districts in the northern portion of the North Island (says a. Wellington message). The first portion of the investigations havo been of a nature to induce the belief that tho cause oi the malady has been ascertained, and iii order to allow further practical experiments, Cabinet is considering a proposal to acquire au area of aOO acres in Mamaku, 12 miles from Rotorua. in the centre of tho'affected district.
