SCHOOL COMMITTEES.
The monthly meeting of the West Christchurch District High School Committee was held on Thursday. Present —Mr J. H, Jones (chairman), Messrs H. Holland, J. McCullough, T. McMurrav, W. Robson, E. Parlane, G. Barrell, \\ . Sheldon, W. Bultitude. Tho resignation of Miss M. W. Rutledge from the teaching staff was accepted with re_;ret, and the Committee recorded its high appicciation of her valuable services to the school, and wished hor success in her new sphere of duty. An inspection report on tho secondary department by tho Inspector of Secondary Schools, Mr Gill, was received and considered very satisfactory, but it was resolved to ask the Board under what regulations the Department, took exception to these pupils being in tho secondary department. It was "agreed to ack* the Board for chipfings for the paths, and suggest tho playground wa.s totally unfit for children to play in, and that littlo short of ploughing and regrading and sowing again would effect the necessary improvement. The Committee congratulated Mr McCul!ou_;h on his election into the City Council.
