NOTES AND MEMORANDA.
The Rev. R. S. Gray is advertlse-d to deliver a course of threo illustrated lectures, entitled, "Round the World," descriptive of his journeyings last year. The first lecture will deal with Palestine and Egypt, and will bo given in the Oxford terrace Baptist Church next Tuesday evening.
Tho Canterbury sawmills', timber yards' and coal yards' employees havo arranged to hold an annual social. The' first of these will be held in the Alexandra Hall on Friday evening next, when a gold medal, suitably inscribed, will bo presented to Mr E. Parlane, the past president of the Union.
The annual meeting of St. Savtour'*Orphanage will be held at tho V.M.C.A. at 4 p.m. to-day.
The Cambrian Society will give a concert in the Sydenham Baptist Church to-night.
Tho annual distribution of prizes in connection with the Canterbury Automobile Association will take place tonight.
Tho annual meeting of tho Canterbury Horticultural Society will be bald on June 21st, at 8 p.m.
A complimentary social will bo tendered to Mr G. W. Forbes, M.P., nt Cheviot on Friday night.
A lecture on "Town-planning" will be given by Mr S. Hurst Seager iv the Art Gallery on Thursday night. The quarterly meeting of memben* of tho Canterbury Chamber of Commerce wil! be held this afternoon.
