Alfred Smith, a masked burglar, was found guilty of breaking into a house at Itnndwiek, and also of shooting at Mr Thompson, the occupier, with intent to commit murder. Ho was sentenced to fourteen years' imprisonment <>n the first count, and to imprisonment for life on. the second count-. The Judse renin rked that ho would leavo it to the Executive to decide what the sentence meant.
