Mr J. Sbingtellow, of Chertsey, recently tlirc-hed out a 30-bushel to the •ivre "crop of oats off a piece of very light -leasehold land. Off his freehold land he harvested some 70-bushol oat ci ops.
Mr A. II H. Amers, Assistant Agricultural Instructor for tho* North Canterbury Hoard of Education, is at present on a tour of inspection of the agricultural work at tho various schools in the Ashburton district.
Mr J. Smith, of Ashbuirton. who bought, and until recently owned, a bloclv at tho last sub-division of the Lagmhor Estate, is just about to have threshed a paddock of 100 acres of oats, which he anticipates will give an average) yield of close on 100 bushels to tlie acre.
A well-known Tinwald and Mothvon farmer expressed tho opinion to our Ashbnrton correspondent yesterday, that the past season had been one of the very best, both as regards feed far stock, tiic returns from stock, and grain yields, Ashburtou farmers havo ever had. '
