PREBBLETON.
A two days' bazaar was held last week at Prebbleton in aid of a fund to replace the peal of bolls which was destroyed some years ago by fire. The secretaries were Mrs Hartnoll and Mr J. W. Patchett. Mr F. W. Carpenter was the treasurer. The determination of tho pooplo to get back their bells was lately fully shown in their boll farm project. Tho menhired somo land and did all the work themselves. From ono half-acre they dnjr in a little moro than four hours sixty-threo sacks of potatoes, on which they cleared £10. The bazaar added considerably to their funds. The following is a list of stallholders nnd the money taken at each stall:—Plain work stall, £36 17s lid— Mesdames McNally,- Downey, Adams, Hartncll, Gabbatis. and Miss Lily Legc. Prebb.le, Mrs Engksome, and Mis* Foster. .Flower stall, £12 17s l>d —Mrs Goodwin and Mrs Hatlon. Christmas tree, £8 Gs Did—Mrs Carpenter, Miss Marsh, and Miss Wood row. Tea rooms, £8 3s sd—Mrs Craythorne. Mrs Tubb,'Miss Eva Fulle-r. Fish pond, £6 los 3d—the Misses I. Logg, E. McNally. and A. Fuller. Judging weight of sheen, £6 8s 6d—Mr J. Hartncll. Kitchen and l>ook stall, £0 4s SJd— Mrs Simpson. ' Shooting gallery, £1 0s 3d— Mr Gabbatis. Total. £200 3s sd. The bazaar was opened by Mr R. H. Jlhodes, M.P., who said that bells brought many a memory back. The local bra , ** band, under tho conductorship of Mr T. Martin, played selections each night. The result of the bazaar has surprised even the most sanguine.
