EYRE. Jit tho first meeting of the Eyre County Council there were present":— Messrs 11. Evans, 11. 0. Dixon, C. M. Williams, J. Wright, F. G. Horrell and 0. J. Horrell. Mr It. Evans was elected chairman and Mr R- M. Wright clerk, treasurer, and registrar of dogs, Messrs C. Hawkins and W. Sprigs were appointed deputy dog -egistrars and rangers. The clerk was instructed to write to tho Under-Socretary for Internal Affairs for particulars of memorials that have been erected in the district to King Edward VII. Messrs 11. J llorreH and J. ASHLEY. , The Ashley County Council met at Loburn on Thursday. Pre-scnt —Messrs AVm. Mackintosh (in the chair), Croft, Ensor. Hiatt, O'Halloran. Parish, and Philpott. It was agreed to call a meeting of contributing bodies to consider matters relating to the Ashley traffic bridge. Members arranged to meet at an early date for the* insjx.etion of the Ashley Gorge road, to decide on what work was required there. In reply to Mr Simpkinson, the clerk was instructed to report on the roads on his side of the county. Mr Hugh Eusor was appointed to attend the Christchurch meeting for the election of delegates to the Local Government Conference at Wellington. Mr Chas. At tho time notified the Oouilcil held a .special meeting to consider the advisability of paying interest and principal of the Ashley traffic Iridic loan, out of tho general fund. The Council, however, considered that the special rate struck should be levied this year, and accordingly no resolution, was required. Further works were postponed pending the declaration of main roads by special order, at next meeting.
