CONCLUSION OF ENQUIRY
Tho enquiry inio the fire which took place on March 2.3 th at Woodend, when tho Oddfellows' Hnll and tho buildings occupied by J. 11. Lloyd. 0. H. FeJton, and K. Whitlow respectively wore dust royod, was resumed on Saturday :it tho Ma<:is.trnk>'s Court, before Mr T. A. B. Bailey, S.M. James Henry Lloyd, recalled, evidonoe relative to the rental of tho premises. Deno Twynham. commercial travolJer. stated that ho had valued tho stock of Lloyd's Christcbureh shop at from £17<j to £200, about a week before ho sold out. but Mr Lloyd told it for £100. On the Tuesday, after the buyer, Carter, took possession, it va3 estimated at .£149. To Detective Gibson: He considered it would hare been cheap at. £175. Harry l>. Bates, a grocer at Addington, said he was Lloyd's brother-in-law. He stated that he had valued the stock at £140. Tho Magistrate, in delivering his judgment, held that there was iio evidence ;is to how tho fire had originated.
