Excellent acceptances were received last night for the second day of the New Zealand Metropolitan" Ta\'s Easter Meeting, and judging by present indications some excellent* sport should be, witnessed. The Metropolitan Handicap promises to provide an exceptionally good contest, as nt present fifteen high-class horses still figure in the event. Good fields are still left in practically ail the other events, and doubtless "the majority of those engaged will face the starter on Saturday.
Nominations for the Hawke's Bay J.C.s Autumn Aiecting arc due this evening, when a further payment for the Hawke's Bay Stakes must also be made.

W. D. Young, the rider of Fashion Plate in the Awahuri Welter «t tno Feilding J.C.s Easter Aleeting, was fined £2 by the starter, and reported to the stewards for attempting to gain
an undue advantage at tho start, and for insolence. The stewards decided to increase the fine to, £5 and to severely reprimand Young, who was cautioned that any furtiier rvn.net of the sort would be met with suspension. Whilst running prominently in tlvo Kimbohon Hurdles at tho " Feilding Easter Meeting, at the top turn Lcohuuor misjudged his distauco and crashed clean through ono of the hurdles, carrying away tho guard rail nnd some of the rail fencing off ihe course proper. His riu-r. i. Pritchard, landed on the plough track, fully thirty yards on the far side- of tho jump, aud on being lucked up Ly the ambulance it was discovered thut his right leg was broken just below tho knee. A living piece of timber struck Jones, tho rider of Cornelian, on the forehead, and knocked him otf his mount. Jones was able to ride in tho following event, but had subsequently to have a few stitches put in. Tho Nelson Jockey Club made a profit of £'450 on their recent Meetinc;. Trafalgar has been scratched for the Place Handicap at the A.J.C. Races. A cable message states that at tho thoroughbred yearling sales in Sydney tho Traquair—Arajoel colt, and tho Prudeut King—Emblem filly were purchased on behalf of Mr E. J. Watt, ot' Hawke's Bay, New Zealand. An enquiry was held by the steward* of tho Australian Jockey Club in regard to Gunlwat's running in the City ! Handicap decided on Tuesday. After | hearing the evidence of the owner and jockey the explanation was accepted ns satisfactory.
