HOKITIKA, April 9. The Hon. James Colvin, Minister of Mines, in the course of his reply to expressions of welcome to the district, said he was of opinion that the Mackenzie Ministry was an able, .thoroughly honest and straightforward one. He predicted that Mr Payne and the other Labour members would vote with tho present Government for the next three years. and that if there was an iijjip,<.al" to the country' before then, the present Government." Avould"'go back witii a fair majority, and that Sir Joseph AVard would yet bo asked to again lead the Liberal Party. Mr Colvin leaves to-morrow morning for Greymouth. where he is to be entertained in tho evening.
