Tho play-off for the Thursday Association's Junior Competition between tho Australian Club junior team and tho Lyttelton C.C. was continued on Good " Friday at Sydonhnm Park, Tvhorojowing to tho continued fmo weather, a good.wicket was expected; but, on the contrary, it was in quite a sodden state. On th© first day tho Australians mado 177. > Lyttelton, who had to bat first on Friday, mainly owing to the state of the wicket, could only compile 67. The Australians, on going in for their second innings, fared even worse, and could only compile 3-1, Eden bowling well, getting six wickets for 13 runs, and \Vhitford three for 13. Lyttolton got tho required 144 rims for tho loss of eight wickets. Eden (54), Tikau (59), and Cousins (21) batted excellently for Lyttelton, especially Tikau. whoso timing was spienclid. This is the second year in .succession that Lyttelton has won the Junior Championship.

A match was played on the Ashburton Domain on Good Friday between teams representing the Ash burton and the Union (Cbristchurch) cricket clubs. The visitors scored 112 in their first innings and 95 for six wickets in their second innings. Ashburton scored 60 in their first innings and 103 for six wickets in their second innings. In the match played for tho Schools' Shield on Wednesday be'.t.een the Hampstend and Tinwafd Schools teams, Hainpstcad scored 10 only in the first innings, and 48 in the second.
