We have much pleasure in. inserting the following letter from a correspondent, and in our leading colums will be found on article supporting his appeal. Tho accounts published in our cable, messages of the distress in England are simply heartrending, and we will gladly tako charge of any further subscriptions sent to "The Press" in aid f tho Relief Fund:— -

Sir, —Will every reader of youv paper, under whose notice these lines come, stop and consider how much he can do to relievo the terrible • sufferings of the starving women and children in England. Let him or her regard this as a cry from suffering humanity, and one not to be passed by. "We out here, in this land of plenty, cannot realize what even hunger means, much less starvation. Surely, too, this is a time wlien we might well deny ourselves? I enclose a small sum which 1 hope will lead to a fund being opened in Christchurch, as has been so successfully and promptly carried out in Ihinedin.—Yours, etc.,
