Bates issued the following ■wear ther summary and forecast at 5 p.m. ycetorThe barometer roso everywhere on Saturday but an area of low preaeuie pasped southward of New Zealand on Sunday nißht, causing heavy rain in Otapo and Southland. Cool and changeable weather ha* boon experienced generally, with moderate to strong south-westerly winds predominating. Present icdicatious are for rain and boisterous weather in Iho northern districts, with high easterly winds and a falling barometer e"«;where. Cold, cloudy and unsettled wear ther will probably continue for a time, with etrong southerly and pouth-easterly winde, Mid a further rise in tho barometer is to be expected.
