THE SINGER COMPANY CASE

SYDNEY, March 18. The trial of Brown and McPherson, charged with conspiring to defraud the Singer Sewing Machine Company of £12,744, has commenced.
Tho evidence showed that Brown, as general manager, received a salary of £4000 per annum. His account becoming largely overdrawn ho adopted a system of bookkeeping alterations (landing him in the present charges), by which his deficit was wiped out, thereby allegedly defrauding the Company of tho amount named.
