ANXIETY OVER TREATIES

With a view to allaying anxiety, the Premier has denied the existence of au AnglorGerman Treaty menacing the Portuguese colonies, and has published au extract from the Anglo-Portuguese Treaty. Alliance, whereby the countries agree to assist each other in the event of an. invasion, also to protect each other's colonies.
If France or Spain attacked Portugal, then Britain*would endeavour to secure peace, failing which she would assist Portugal.
