0 _ i WAIMAIBI. Tiie Waimairi County Council met last night in the Council Chambers at Papanui. Present—Messrs S. A. Staples (chairman), \V P. Silencer W Nicholls, Li. W. Hawke, 11. Palk, It. 0 Duncan, Wilfred Hall, J. Hanna W. j' Walter, S. Bullock, and i\ Suson. The By-laws Committee recommended that a by-Jaw should bo adopted compelling all vehicles travelling within the county to be provided with lights after sunset. This wae altered to read "Ono hour after sunset." Tho Council was also recommended to regulate the speed of cyclists at the same piacee on roads where motor speed is regulated. This was agreed to. Messrs Staples, Bollock and Duncan were appointed to represent tho Council at tho conference called by tho Mayor of Christchurch to consider the Canal Commission's report. Mr S. Bullock was re-elected to represent the Council on tho Chrfstchurch Technical College Board of Governors, and a vote of £i:0 to thj. College was passed. Mr H. J. Borne wrote complaining of the pollution of the Kaputone stream, a nd stating that Mr .Nicholls had promised to connect his works with the Belfast Company's man eewer, and had had the i>ip«> la : d ight up to the eewer. Mr Nicholl 8 in. formed the Council that ho intended to make- the connection with the drain today, a nd it was decided to reply to that effect.
