ASHBURTON.
At tho Ashburton Police Court yesterday, before Messrs W. H. Rundlo and A. McCluro, J.P.s, Godfrey L. Clark was charged with attempting to commit suicide. It appears that Clark had been drinking on Saturday,, and that Into in the evening .he entered a refreshment-room, and created a disturbance. Later on ho was found in his room in a boardinyhouse lying on the floor, and bleeding from wounds in tho throat, which had evidently been inflicted by a razor, which was* found lying beside him. ile was taken to the police station, and attended to by a medical man, when it was found that tho wounds were mero scratches, defendant said that he had no intention whatever of committing suicide, and would be willing to have a prohibition order issued against himself. The information was dismissed, and a prohibition order issued.
