RAXGIORA. llangiora Borough Council met ,on Friday evening. Present—The Mayor (Mr E. R. Good) and Crs. Eoyd, Bell, Bridget, Jordon, Sausom, Smith, Walker and Jennings. In referenoA to tho Council's application to the Pailway Department for payment of £8 8s 3d, damages incurred in the flooding of the gasworks, the District Engineer ■wrote, refusing to recommend payment of tho claim, on tho ground of the 3>opartment not being in any way liable for the damage. It was decided to take legal advice on tho matter. Tho >.layor was appointed to represent the Council at the Canal Conference. It was decided to support tho proposal of th« Cbristchurch City Council that councillors be elected for three years. Aii application, fer the uso of the Maria Andrew's Park for drill purposes d'uing the Territorials' camp was granted The receipts for the month were €49 9= 4d. and benk debit balance £F7& 10s 4d. Amounts for £521 5s 7d were passed for payment, including £377 8e lid in connection with the swimru'n? bath. The gas receipts were £115 Jls 9d, and expenditure £59 10s 2d. It was resolved to kerb and channel the footpath o;i tho west side of Ashley street from Payne street to the North bolt. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr Rich, secretary of the Swimming Centre, Mr Bilson and others who assisted at Ihe opening of the swimming bath. Tho clerk reported that £41 in ratos w;us outstanding, and it was decided to tako legal proceedings after March 31st to H-enver the amounts. .
