The* annual quartcr-niilo handicap race (or Dr. Moorhouso's trophy t<;ok place ai tho estuary on Saturday aiternoon, in favourable "either conditions. Two quarter-mile club events were s'.vum off prior to the contest Jor tho trophy, the competitions being continocLto members of the Sydenham und tho East Christchurch clubs. Tho timo put tip for tbo trophy, Ginia iJscc, waa faster than in the club events, and this was due, to some extent to the fact that in the meantime tho wind had l*ai]pn, the tide was more favourable, and conditions generally were much better.
