ITS VALUE IN NEW ZEALAND,

United Press Association—By Klectrie Telegraph—Copyright.

PERTH, March 1C

Mr Young, manager and secretary of the Australia League Party, now touring America, writing to the Press regarding Sir Wm. Russell's denial that Australian silver coinage was refused in New Zealand, states that the Wellington post offico and various business places declined to accept it. He was directed to an office where the coins could bo cashed at a 1o per cent, discount. The party also received a written offer from a business man to tho same effect. (press association telegram.) HASTINGS, March 16. Interviewed regarding the cablegram from Perth, Sir Wm. lhissell said that evidently there was a misunderstanding, as ho alluded to Australia's gold coinage, while apparently the West Australian gentleman quoted in tho cablegram was referring to tho new silver coinage, which was not in circulation in New Zealand before ho (Kir William Russell) left for England.
