PIGEON FLYING.
Tlie Christchurch Homing Pigeon Society flow off a young: bird race from Kaikoura on Saturday. Forty-eight birds were cent, representing nineteen lofts competing. The birds were liberated off the Mokoia, seven miles out at sea at G. 34 a.m., in a light nor'-cast wind, which changed to a strong «cu'-west wind, which caused the birds to put up a slow velocity. The winner was Mr E. Eowe's Terror, which flew the distance of 101 miles 1263 yards air line in 4hrs 57min 36sec. The following is the Teautt : — E. Howe's Terror, 619vds per mm, A. Kindayson'a Bonnie Doon 535 yds, E. Miles's Kaponga 531 yds, F. Kingeford's Rosetti 500 yds, T Xewton's Whittier 471 yds, G. Anderson's Wee Pied 457 yds, J. Barters Chopin 45Oyde, A Farrejl's Wagner 434 yds, S". Draper's "White Wings 397 yds, J. Field's Roker 310 yds, W Searle's Baby Bliss 388 yds, W. Forgie'a Tourist 380 yds.
