The first two distances for tho Putnam Cup wero decided at the Sydenham bath during last week. The following are the results: —
First distance, 50yds—First heat: It. Willi and J. Kiddey dead heat 1. Second heat: W. Jones 1. Third heat: F. Loader L Fourth heat: H." Fitzsimmons 1. Final: H. Fitzsimmons 1, F. Loader 2, "W. Jones 3. K. Willis and J. Kiddey aleo started. Second distance, 75yds—First heat: L. Poison 1. R. Wills. E. Fitzsimmons, W. de Roo and L. Gill also started. Second heat: F. Loader 1. J. Avery, H. Kiddey. A. Cameron and A. Hobbs also started. Third heat: \V. Jones 1. C. Johnston, it. Fitzsimmons, G Sherwood, and W. Jamieson a.'so started. Fourth hoat: X. Taakcr 1. J. Kiddey, J. Matthews, H. Fitzsimmons, W. Brunfden, and J. Greatbatch also started. Final- S Loader 1, D. Jones 2, L; Poison 3, X: Taaker 4.
The annual carnival of the St John's Swimming Cub, which was to havo boon held in the Corsair Bay baths on Saturday afternoon was, on account of tho inclement weather, postponed until Saturday, Marea
