Tho Australian-bred sire Australian Star was sold in England recently for 25gns. This horse won a fair amount of money at Home for Mr S. H. Gollan, and was credited on July sth 1902, with running li mile at Alexandra park (England) in 2min. 2 l-ssec., which is only outside the world's record for tho distance. At Williamstown (Victoria) recently, the stewards held an enquire into the running of Glendook. The olHcial decision wa3:—"Tho stewards were not satisfied with tho explanation of the rider, J. N. McGregor, or the owner, E. A. Connolly, but there was not sufficient evidenco to take action, and tho parties concerned were given tho benefit of tho doubt." Tho Australian Trotting Club opened the year's racing at Victoria park, N.S.W.. on Monday February loth, when it brought off its Hospital Benefit meeting, on which occasion it annually gives £500 to the South Sydney Hospital.
