— ■ ♦ Tho firo brigade received a call at • 3.22 a.m. yesterday for an outbreak at j 72 St. Albans street, St. Albans. Tho : building contains two stories and eight ; rooms, and is of wood. It is owned by : Mr A. J. Marshall, of Kaikoura, and was unoccupied at tho time. The fire appeared to have originated under the stairs in a cupboard. The lower part of tho stairs was completely burned away, and the entrance hall and pass- i age wero severely damaged by fire, j Tho rest of tho building was slightly ! damaged by heat and smoke. Tho j premises are insured in the State Office | for £450. Two motor chemicals and thirteen men. turned out. - | — -,
