Major-General Godley, Commander-in-Chief of the New Zealand Military Forces, accompanied by Mrs Godley, left for Wellington by the Mararoa last night.
Lieutenant-Colonel Creswell, Major Bishop, Captain Spencer-Smith, Captain Finnis, Captain Sandle, Captain Salter, Captain .Andrews, Captain Cbapman, Lieutenant Cook, and Lieutenant Donne, left for Wellington last night. The Hon. G. J. Smith, M.L.C., left for Wellington by tho Mararoa last night. The Rev. C. H. Laws, tho-Rev. p. W. Fairclongh, and the Rev. _". Ashcroft, were passengers for Welling, ton by the Mararoa last night.
Mr W. H. Triggs left for Wellington last evening. Messrs P. L. Hallenstein, H. Wynne, and Harconrt Turner, left for Wellington by the Mararoa last night. Arrivals in town yesterday included Messrs S. Gough, J. J- Rothschild, A. Jacobs, M. A. Balinger (Wellington), J ; W. Brown, J. Croker, W. Somerville, A. Johnston, J. A. Robinson, J. A. Frederic, P. J. Neill, E. J. Denny, I>r. Hall (Dunedin), J. Young, E. Jones, G. G. Burnes (Invercargill) L. C Simpson, W. F. Weigall (Melbourne), T. J. Lusk, A. R- Otway, E. K. Russell (Timaru), R. C Taylor (Waikari), H. Hule (Bradford), O. Soummer (Leipzig), and A. E. Baker (Huddersfield). Messrs W. McCullough (proprietor of the Thames "Advertiser" and "Star"). N. Mcßobio (proprietor of the Waihi "Telegraph"), R. J. Gwynno (Editor of tho "Wnikato Argus"), and .1. Du'tgan (of the Waneanui "Herald"), arrived in Christchurch on Sunday. They leave for Greymonth this moraine te attend the annual n">e+in~ of tho Press Association and Newspaper Proprietors' Association.
