SPEECH BY MR BONAR LAW.
(Received November 17th, 10.25 p.m.) LONDON, November 17. Mr Bonar Law, speaking at Leeds, declared that tho Unionists would strenuously resist Welsh disestablishment, which had nothing to support it except prejudice and bigotry. The Insurance Bill -was passing through tho House of Commons mechanically, and tho vital interests of tho whole community were being sacrificed to clonr tho road for Homo Rule. Necessity for retaining the- Nationalists' support was tho sole cause of the failure of last year's conference. Tho Nationalists never knew or cared what was at stake in British political questions, and it was therefore intolerable that they should dominate British politics. This View, tho speaker added, was once held by Mr Asquith. Tho Government's re~ ioi -.;»> 1 Swend Chamber would probably anrivo after tho Homo Rulo Bill had been passed. Tho recent industrial unrest was the riponod fruit of the seed sown during tho Budget campaign, when the poor were led to expect a golden age. Tho promotion of social reform, without tariff reform, would only increase the number of poor and create unemployment.
