YOUNG MEN'S CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION.

The usual monthly meeting of the Board of Directors of tho Young Men's Christian Association was held on Monday night. Present:—Mr 0. E- Salter, in the chair, Messrs J. I. Royds, W. Goss, A. W. Beaven, T. C. Field, A. Kaye, J. Mitchell, W. Mason, Rer H. Purchas, and the general secretary. Twelve new members were admitted. A letter was received from tho Otago Football Association recording.their appreciation of the hospitality shown to the members of the Otago representative team which visited Christchmch on the Bth inst. The Religious Work Committee reported that steady work was being done in this department; and tho House Committee's report showed continued success in the residential section of the work. The Social Committee reported upon the various social gatherings held during the past month, and outlined its work for the next month, which will include a president's reception and a hook social; also that a tea-table conference of members would be held tonight to consider plans for a sevon day's membership canvass. The general secretary reported that satisfactory work was in progress in all departments, and that th© athletic teams were in a stronger position than ever before, the football team being particularly successful. The secretary submitted plans for the establishment of an intermediate or youths' division, to facilitate the passage of members from the boys' to the men's department. The matter was placed in the hands of a sub-com-mittee to report at next meeting.
