Loyell and Torbelle have both been showing signs of lameness in their work at Trentham. The Hawke'e Bay Jockey Club hae resolved t3iat, in view of the recommendations of the Royal Oommissionere, its Spring Meeting will in future consist of a one-day fixture. Stanley Wootton rode three winners ont of five mounts at Brussels on May 21at. A Hawke's Bay writer states that Appin, who ia engaged in the Winter Hurdles, is one of the fittest horses now in work on the Hastings tracks. Wimmera has done very little schooling for some time past. The death occurred recently of one of the most valuable brcod mares ia England. This was Gaieottia (by Galopin), who won the One Thousand Guineas of 18&5. She was the property of Mr Fairie. The Auckland Racing Club Committee last night allotted stakes for next season, £28,915 being the amount decided upon for eleven days racing at EUerslie. It was decided to add a mile weight-for-age race of 600 eovs to the summer programme to be run on the second day. The A.R.C and Eastor Handicaps were each increased to 1000 eovs. ,
