ENGLISH INTEREST IN THE ISSUES.
LONDON, April 27. The London Press is watching the referendum polls with interest. The "Westminster Gasetto" states that while not wishing to prejudice tho question, it doubts whether a Government can invoke a referendum and still continue in office as if nothing had happened, when tho result is adverse, even !on a constitutional question. (Received Anril '29th, 12.33 a.m.) LONDON, April 28. The newspapers discuss the operation !of the referenda in Australia from the respective political standpoints, especially its bearing on the referendum question in Great Britain. The "Morning Post" rejoices that the rebuff will not prevent Mr jTisher j and liis colleagues from speaking with i authority at the Imperial Conference, as their policy in Imperial affairs is practically identical with that of Mr Deakin.
